Postmaster shot dead in Chaavakachcheari

Subramaniam Santheepan, 30, a postmaster and a father of two children, was shot dead by armed men who followed him in a motorbike at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Vangka'laavadi Road, Chaavakachcheari, sources in Thenmaraadchchi said. The victim, from Mirusuvil North, was riding his motorbike with his wife and two children when he was shot.

His body has been lying at the crime site till 12:00 noon for nearly than 18 hours, sources said.

The victim's family was displaced from Mirusuvil and was living in Changkaththaanai in Chaavakachcheari.

The killing occurs after a three week lull in such killings in Jaffna district.
