Vavuniyaa district villagers ask for additional security

Residents of Vaarikkuddiyoor and Paavatku'lam villages in Vavuniyaa have requested Vavuniyaa district Government Agent to provide additional security for their villages, sources in Vavuniyaa said. The request has been forwarded through the Cheddiku'lam district secretary, residents of the affected villages said.

The villagers cited the danger due to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers in the closeby SLA camp, and pointed to the the two civilians whose bodies were found with gunshot wounds a week earlier.

They also told the GA that no action has been taken by Government Authorities to investigate the several other killings of the village locals.
