Police post attacked

The Liberation Tigers attacked a Police post in Mangalagama, a Sinhala settlement on the edge of the Batticaloa - Ampara district border around 11.30 p.m last night killing a para-military Home Guard.
The Mangalagama Police post is situated in the vicinity of the Pulukumaavi Special Task Force (STF) camp. The area is aout 26 kilometers south west of Batticaloa. No further details of the attack are known yet said Police sources in Kalmunai. Meanwhile a time bomb went off near the garage of the Aaraiampathy Prahdeshiya Sabha office. Aariampathy is a large village 7 kilometers south of Batticaloa and the local government body is controlled by the TELO which works with the local STF camp. The TELO in Aaraiampathy is frequently tartgeted by the Liberation Tigers who enter the village from the western shore of the Batticaloa lagoon.
