Vanni teachers express fear to travel to Colombo

Vanni district teachers who have been called to appear for interview in Colombo to follow a course in Bachelor of Education degree are reluctant to go to Colombo due to fear of abduction and arrest by the security forces. Vanni district parliamentarian Mr.Selva Adaikalanathan has brought this matter to the notice of Colombo authorities, sources said.

The interview will be conducted by the National Institute of Education (NIE), which has its headquarters in Colombo.

Mr.Adaikalanathan has requested the authorities to conduct the interview in Vavuniya enabling teachers of Mannaar and Vavuniya districts to attend it without fear, sources said.
