Two fishermen reported missing in Kurunakar

Two fishermen residing at a high rise housing scheme in Kurunakar, Jaffna are reported missing for the past three days, sources in Jaffna said.

The missing men are identified as John Jimrone, 23 and Amirthanathan Rock Franklyn, 24.

The fishermen were stopped by Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers on June 16 when they were returning from fishing. The SLA confiscated their Identity Cards (ID) and Fishing Permits, and told the fishermen to report at the Civil Administrative office for questioning.

The fishermen had accordingly proceeded to the SLA office June 16 Saturday morning but are missing since then, relatives said.
