SLA conducts search operation in Kurunakar for second day

Thousands of Sri Lanka Army (SLA) troopers conducted a large scale cordon and search operation in a specific areas of Kurunakar in Jaffna Municipality Sunday early morning .This was the third such operation in the area in the last three days, civil society sources in Jaffna said.
Hundreds of young men and women were rounded up at their homes, their identity cards confiscated and were taken to the premises of St.James Church located opposite Jaffna Prison. The arrested youth were produced before masked men and were kept in the church premises for investigation till Sunday afternoon. No news of any arrests made during the search was available. Following a claymore attack on SLA Thursday afternoon, a similar operation was conducted on Friday in the adjoining Chu'ndikkuzhi and Eechchamoaddai areas. Another such search was conducted Saturday in Kurunakar and adjoining coastal areas
