Victory, not Hindu celebrations say posters

Posters appeared in the campus of Morattuwa University, south of Colombo, on Saturday, October 31, alleging that the "Saraswathy Pooja" celebration (a Hindu religious festival) held in the University at the beginning of this month had been organised to mark the capture of Kilinochchi by the Liberation Tigers.
Large-size posters appeared on Saturday following the removal of smaller posters which had appeared earlier. It is not known who was behind the poster campaign. Sources said the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dean of the Engineering Faculty and several lectures participated in the celebrations. Among the 300 new undergraduates to the Engineering faculty, 110 are Tamil students. Their lectures began on Friday. Saraswathy is the Hindu goddess associated with learning and education.
