2 civilians injured in grenade attack in Kaaththaankudi

Two Muslim civilians were injured when unknown persons hurled a hand grenade around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday while they were standing near the Kaaththaankudi Police station in Batticaloa district. Muhammad Mahroof, 40, and Hachchi Muhammad Gaffoor, 38, both residents of Kaaththaankudi, were admitted to the Kaaththaankudi District hospital for treatment.

Police and Sri Lanka Army cordoned off the area and conducted a search following the incident.

However, no one was arrested.

Kaaththaankudi Police is conducting further investigations.

Kaaththaankudi is situated 6 km south of Batticaloa.
