GOSL should exert dominance in North- Weerawanse[TamilNet, Wednesday, 18 July 2007, 05:24 GMT]The propaganda secretary of Jathika Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) and the leader of parliamentary group of JVP, Wimal Weerawansa demanded that the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) should take immediate steps to completely uproot the dominance and power of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Northern Province, in a special communiqué released when the parliament resumed sittings Tuesday, parliamentary sources said. While congratulating the armed forces for capturing the Eastern province, Mr.Weerawansa accused the GOSL of making use of the victory for its own political agenda. Warning that countries such as Norway should be kept out of the peace process, he said that the government should be vigilant of the activities of such countries. Commenting on the recent statement by of some of the cabinet ministers, Weerawansa said that it is laughable that some ministers are still talking of political solutions, even after the capture of East and that there is no need for such talk at the moment. When Weerawansa questioned about the promise by the government of releasing the details of the agreement made by the Defense Ministry secretary Gothapaya Rajapakse with United States (U S), Minister Nimal Sripala de Silva, apologized for the delay and promised to submit them Wednesday. Mr.Weerawansa criticized the GOSL for not keeping its promise.
