The remains of a highly decomposed body of a 22year-old youth disappeared from Kayts in Jaffna district about six months ago discovered by civilians Wednesday in a well located behind the church in Sinnamadu, Naranthanai has now been positively identified by the victims father and sister.
The body identified as belonging to Sebastian Prakash also called Ramesh was found tied with nylon ropes to a concrete pillar .Partially decomposed shirt and jeans worn by the victim at the time of his killing also was found close to the decomposed remnants. The discovery was made due to the drying of the well resulting from the current drought prevailing in the peninsula. The victim left his house in Kayts six months ago, relatives said. It is believed that the victim was killed elsewhere and then dumped in the well. Kayts district court judge, Mr. M. Thirunaavukarasu, after being notified of the discovery of the youth’s body conducted investigations into the death and directed the police to transfer the remains to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital. Since hundreds of civilians have gone missing in the island, the civilians in the area speculate many more bodies might surface when the wells in the area become dry. When the well in Sinnamaddu becomes completely dry they will be able to confirm if more bodies are dumped there, police sources said
