SLA fires artillery shells in Vadamaraadchy east

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) fired artillery and multi-barrel rockets from Wednesday morning from 5:00a.m. till 8:55 a.m towards Poonakari, Ki'laali, and Mukamaalai areas from the eastern FDLs, sources in North said. Fishermen in many coastal villages in Vadamaraadchy east were prevented from going out to sea because of the shelling, civil society sources in Vadamaraadchy said.

Last month a fisherman was killed by an SLA artillery shell in the area.

The civilians from Iyakkachchi attempting to obtain the produce from coconut palms and cash crops were unable to proceed to their farms, according to village residents.
