Tortured student said critical

A student abducted by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) Tuesday night, and released near his home Thursday in Kaithaddy south, after torture, has been admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital in critical condition, sources in Jaffna said.
Shanmugam Sanjeevan who was tortured by the SLA during the day he was kept in detention is in the Intensive Care Unit, hospital sources said. Meanwhile, a youth threatened to death by SLA, seeking protection for his life with the Jaffna HRC, was placed in the protective custody in Jaffna prison, sources in Jaffna said. This youth is the fifth to seek safety due to death threats from the SLA, within this past week. Many youths in Jaffna peninsula are being threatened to death by the SLA, civil society sources in Jaffna said.
