Jaundice under control in Batticaloa resettlement areas-Deputy Director of Health

Jaundice disease that has been spreading in resettled areas such as Vavunatheevu and Vellaave'li in Batticaloa district since July has been brought under complete control , Dr.Sathurmugam Deputy Director (DD) of Health Services,Batticaloa district said Wednesday.
In July a total of 63 patients affected by jaundice were admitted to Batticaloa Teaching Hospital and out of them six are still continuing to receive treatment, DD said. Drinking polluted water and eating unhealthy food are two key reasons for spread of this disease, and this could be contained by adopting healthy habits, Dr.Sathurmugam added. Office of the Deputy Director of Heath services is conducting awareness programs related to the disease, health officials said.
