Kayts district court Judge, Jeyaraman Trotsky, Friday ordered the Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) Commander in charge of the Allaippiddi SLN camp to appear in Court for investigations regarding the disappearances of two Jaffna civilians, a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) staffer abducted in Veala'nai in Jaffna Islets on 7th June and a postal worker who disappeared in Neduntheevu the same day, legal sources in Jaffna said.
The Judge during the hearing of the disappearance cases Friday said that the two had gone to the islets through the Allaipiddi checkpoint but there has been no indications that the victims returned to Jaffna through that checkpoint. The Judge said that since the victims are residents of Jaffna mainland, the Court wants to know if there have been any records of the two victims registered at the checkpoint. The judge also reprimanded the Navy officiers at the Allaippiddi camp for not submitting to the Court report related to the investigations carried out by the SLN of the motorcycle last used by the victims. Mathiyaparanam Pratheepan, 33, a father of three children, from Kozhumpuththu'rai, Jaffna, and working as conductor at the Koa'ndaavil bus depot was travelling in a bus to Ku'rikaadduvaan when he was abducted as he stepped out in Veala'nai to report the engine failure of the bus.
