SLA trooper injured in Vavuniya grenade attack

A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) trooper was injured seriously when unknown assailants hurled a hand grenade at the Checkaddippulavu, Vavuniyaa, SLA sentry at 2:00 p.m Monday, sources in Vavuniyaa said. The trooper was first admitted to the Vavuniya Government Hospital and later transferred to Anuradhapura Hospital, according to medical sources.

Checkaddippulavu is located 5 km northwest of Vavuniya town.

Pedestrian and vehicular traffic were suspended for few hours through the checkpoint at the sentry while the SLA conducted a search operation in areas surrounding the sentry point.
