Army interrogates teachers

The Sri Lankan Army (SLA) cordoned off and searched the Teachers training school in Kopai, Jaffna, around 9.00 a.m. on November 6 and integrated more than 100 teachers there. The operation went on till 2.30 p.m.
The SLA used masked spotters during the interrogation, and male and female teachers were interrogated separately said sources.
The SLA conducted a similar search operation at the Kokuvil Hindu College recently .
Meanwhile 15 persons have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Army in the Thenmaradchi sector during search operations conducted by them last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The army has, however, denied that they have arrested them.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan Army informed the Human Rights Commission, in Jaffna that the following persons are detained at the KKS detention centre under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) .
Kopalappillai Pushpakaran, 22, Thrunelveli
Kanakalinkam Ajanthan, 19, Jaffna
Rasaiah Sivakumar, 31, Jaffna
Mahalingam Jeyaroopan, 19, Jaffna
Meanwhile relatives of Selvarasa Sujeevan, 17, Chunakam, informed the Human Rights Commission that he was arrested on November 4.
Amarasuntharam Thaneshkumar,16 and Sasikumar Thaneshkumar,21, both from Palai, have been arrested by the SLA on October 27, their relatives said.
