Elsewhere in Batticaloa, the Sri Lankan Army co-ordinating officer of the Kaathankuddy SLA camp summoned Samoorty officials in Kaathankudy and Ariampathy to a meeting on Tuesday afternoon. They were asked to submit a list of vehicle owners in their areas. The officer further said that the SLA would not allow supply of electricity to areas controlled by the Liberation Tigers and therefore he did not expect that the Tigers would allow the electricity supply to areas controlled by the Army. He said the army was planning to provide electricity to the Batticaloa town using a generator.
