Tsunami -affected Batticaloa civilians receive new houses

64 new houses constructed in Thiraayamadu , Batticaloa District by a Non Governmental Organization(NGO) based in United States of America (USA), at a cost of 48 million Rupees were handed over to civilians whose houses in Kalladi, Naavaladi and Thiruchchenthoor were destroyed during 2004 Tsunami.

Mrs.Pathmarajah, Divisional Secretary (DS), Manmunai North participating at the function held Monday, officially handed over the houses to the owners.

A total of 141 houses, each valued at 8 Lakhs of Rupees have been constructed and handed over to those affected by the disaster.

Under a scheme of resettling those affected by Tsunami, a number of new houses are being constructed in Batticaloa district by NGOs.
