Civilian shot, injured in Ariyaalai, Jaffna

A 30-year old father of two was shot and seriously injured Saturday morning 5:00 a.m. by unidentified armed men at the victim's house in Kanagaratnam Road, Ariyaalai, Jaffna, sources in Jaffna said.

Armed men called T. Sivatharsan to come out of his house and sprayed gun shots on him.

Sivatharsan was taken to Jaffna Teaching Hospital and is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit.

Sivartharsan was earlier injured in personal land mind explosion and has been living with a prosthetic leg, according to local residents.

Meanwhile, the number of youths shot dead by Sri Lanka Military near Point Pedro harbor has risen to two. The bodies were brought from Manthikai Hospital to Jaffna Teaching Hospital for identification.
