Seven Tigers killed in explosion

The Voice of Tigers (VoT) said that 7 LTTE members were killed in an accidental explosion in the Vanni district on Saturday.
Kulatheepan (Arulaanantham Arulroobam) of Udayaarkaddu west Sabesan (Thangavel Ilancovan) of Karsilaimadu Anbu ( Maamaangam Thirumaal) of Batticaloa Sujanthan (Sounderanaayagam Jeevageorge) of Batticaloa Krishnaraj (Tharmaraasa Sureshkaran) of Batticaloa Ventharaaj (Amutharaasa Kulenthiraraasa) of Batticaloa Thayaanantham (Velmurugu Vaamadevan) of Batticaloa were the dead in the explosion, the radio said. The radio also said that a member of the LTTE was killed in a confrontation at Mankulam on Saturday. The dead is identified as Iyappan (Thatchanamoorthy Gopi) of Batticaloa, the radio added. Meanwhile the press note released by the security forces headquarters in Palaly in the Jaffna peninsula says that on 13 November 1998 during daytime LTTE fired mortars at troops manning defences North of Mankulam. Troops retailated with artillery and mortars. On 14 November 1998 during daytime troops conducted small group operations ahead of defences North of Mankulam. Troops continue to dominate area ahead of defences the press note says.
