STF arrests Tamil youth in Batticaloa

Sri Lanka Special Task Force (STF) arrested a young bicycle mechanic in Batticaloa town for carrying bicycle ball bearings, Tuesday around 4:30 p.m and handed him over to Batticaloa police. The youth was in possession of unusually high number of ball bearings, according to the STF, police said.
The youth arrested was identified as Kanthiah Arulanantham, 25, from Kannangkudaa, a mechanic employed in a bicycle repair shop in Batticaloa town. Arulanantham was on his way to the repair shop on his bicycle after having purchased the ball bearings for the shop, when the STF road patrol unit troops arrested him. Kannangkudaa was an area held in Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) before the SLA occupation. The police are continuing investigation.
