Vasudeva submits resignation[TamilNet, Friday, 20 November 1998, 04:13 GMT]Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) MP, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, has submitted his resignation from the membership of LSSP party, said sources in Colombo. The Party Secretary, Batty Weerakoon, however, denied knowledge of any such letter. When the People's Alliance came to power in 1994, Vasudeva Nanayakkara moved from the Nava Sama Samaja Party (NSSP) to LSSP. Lately, Vasudeva has been critical of several actions by the PA Government. This prompted several members of his party to propose to the leadership to either evict him from the party or to reprimand him. It is widely believed that the President also has warned him that his conduct is bringing disrepute to the Party. It is also noteworthy that Mr. Nanayakkara did not participate in the second voting for the PA's Budget that took place on the 18th November 1998.
