The new Governor for North-East Province, Asoka Jeyawardene has ordered Chief Secretary of the Provincial Council G. Krishnamoorthy to find temporary assignments in Trinco offices for Government Servants of Jaffna who are stranded in Trincomalee due to the unavailability of sea or air transportation, said sources.
Following complaints by the affected government servants, Chief Secretary Krishnamoorthy had approached the Governor and proposed to him the idea of temporary work in Trinco. The Governor accepted the proposal. Krishnamoorthy has now requested the Provincial Secretaries to submit applications from the stranded government workers. Sources say that the Chief Secretary intends to review the applications himself and will approve the temporary appointments. This marks the first significant action by Major Asoka Jeyawardene after he assumed office as the Governor of the North-East Province.
