9 seek HRC protection, 4 missing in Jaffna

Nine civilians in Thenmaraadchi, ranging from ages 18 to 67, including youths and family men, sought protection with Human Rights Commission (HRC) in Jaffna Friday due to death threats from Sri Lanka Army (SLA) and SLA-backed paramilitaries. Meanwhile, four civilians are reported missing by their family members with HRC Jaffna.
The seven seeking HRC protection are from Chaavakachcheari, Kodikaamam, Meesaalai, Kerudaavil, Manthuvil, Madduvil and Changkaththaanai in Thenmaraadchi. The four civilians reported missing are:
- Pathmalathan Pathmayogan, 31, a labourer from Kaladdi in Jaffna, reported missing since Friday.
- Nagalingam Perinpanathan, 32, a family man from Ketpali, Chaavakachcheari, missing since Wednesday.
- Nagarasa Tharmarajan, 41, a driver from Puloali in Vadamaraadchi missing since 9 September.
- Kunasingham Rajmohan, 48, a family man from Koapaai, missing since first of August.
All of them had gone missing after leaving home to attend personal errands.
