2 SLAF troops injured in Vavuniyaa

Unidentified persons triggered a claymore device Monday morning at Chaa'lampaiku'lam area along Vavuniyaa-Mannar road seriously injuring two Sri Lanka Air Force troops in a Buffel Armoured Personnel Carrier, on their way to Vavuniyaa from SLAF Poovaransangku'lam base. A civilian riding bicycle along the road sustained injuries.
The injured troops were rushed to Vavuniyaa hospital first and then transferred to Anuradapura hospital for further treatment. The two SLAF personnel are in a critical condition, Anuradapura hospital sources said. The civilian, Rasalingam Suthakaran, 27, injured in the attack is admitted to Vavuniyaa general hospital. SLAF troops opened indiscriminate fire immediately after the attack. Vehicles plying along Vavuniyaa-Mannar road were blocked for many hours and searched. Chaalampailu'lam is located 12 km northwest from Vavuniyaa.
