Skirmishes in Vanni

Two Liberation Tigers were killed in Mankulam, and two Sri Lankan Army (SLA) soldiers were wounded at Ampakamam when the Liberation Tigers fired mortars said SLA sources.

Meanwhile the SLA in the Batticaloa fired mortars towards areas controlled the LTTE it from 6 p.m. to 6.25 p.m. Friday evening. The Liberation Tigers retaliated by firing mortars at SLA brigade camp in Batticaloa. Further details are not yet known.

Elsewhere, the SLA has increased search operations in the Jaffna peninsula said sources in Jaffna. The army conducted search operations in Manipay, Kantharodai, Navaly, Moolai, Chulipuram, Mallakam, and Thaavadi. It is not known whether any one was arrested.

Yesterday the SLA conducted search operation in Urumparai in Jaffna and arrested Kanthasamy Sujithkumar, 11, and Arulan Vijenthiran, 18.
