The wife of Kandiah Balasubramaniam, Assistant Commissioner of Local Government in Ki'linochchi district who is being kept in detention under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) since June 25 this year, has filed a bail application in the Court of Appeal Wednesday seeking the release of her husband.

Borella Police took Mr. Balasubramaniam into custody alleging that there was a Claymore mine in his official vehicle used by him to travel to Colombo from Ki'linochchi.

The petitioner, Mrs Mangayarakarasi Balasubramaniam, says in her application that her husband is being kept in detention for the last ninety days without being produced in courts.

The Attorney General, and Mr.Kamal Pushpakumara, Chief Inspector of Borella Police have been cited respondents in the application, legal sources said
