25 Arrested in Search Operations

Atleast 25 Tamils were arrested during search operations by the Sri Lankan Police in the hill town of Kandy, on Thursday, said sources. However, five of them were latter released.
The Police said that those who failed to produce special permission papers issued by the Police to reside there and identity cards have been detained for further interrogation.
Meanwhile the Human Rights Commission in Jaffna released the names of 18 people detained at the newly established Rehabilitation Centre for detainees under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA). They were detained at Bandarawalle centre an transferred to Thellipalai.

11. Maharatnam Jeyasuthan, 20, Suthumalai
12. David Antony, 48, Pt. Pedro
13. Kanapathippillai Ketheesan, 22, Kaithady
14. Ratnam Uthayakumar, 22, Jaffna
15. Sebamali Vimalakuamr, 32, Chempiyanpattu
16. Sellakkily Sathyaseelan, 20, Thunnalai, Karaveddy
17. Subramaniam Nagarajah, 21, Kupilan
18. Krishnasamy Kugathasan, 19, Mirusuvil
