Two youths were wounded Tuesday morning around 10:00 a.m. when three Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) Kfir bombers bombed the vicinity of a Tsunami resettlement of 400 families at Theerththakkarai, a village in Mullaiththeevu district. Three resettlement houses were damaged when SLAF fired bombs fell 50 meters close to the settlement. The refugees were engaged in World Food Program's food-for-work project in the area where the bombing has taken place, initial reports said.
The wounded were identifed as 18-year-old V. Roopan and 20-year-old A. Sajeevan, Tamileelam Police officials said. The food-for-work Siramathana (voluntary work) was organised by the District Secretariat. Eight bombs were dropped in the vicinity of the refugee camp. The tsunami families at the settlement have been assisted by Seva Lanka, Forut and German Red Cross.
