Teenage girl abducted, killed in Ea’raavoor

Unidentified armed men arriving at the house of a sixteen- year-old girl at Chanthive’li Jeevapuram in Ea’ravvor police division Thursday night forcibly took the girl with them and Friday morning her corpse with stab and knife cut injuries was found near the railway track in Paalaiyadi Thoa’naa area in Jinnaapuram, Chanthive’li, Ea’raavoor police said.

The victim was identified as Shanmugapriya Manimekam, 16, a resident of Chanthive’li Jeevapuram. She was asleep when the armed abductors came to her house.

Ea’raavoor police recovered Shanmugapriya's body and handed it over to Ea’raavoor district hospital where the inquest into her death was held.

The police handed over the body to her relatives.

Chanthive’li is located 22 km north of Batticaloa town.
