FORUT funded pre-school opened in Mannaku'lam

A pre-school built by Vavuniya Development Rehabilitation Organization (VDRO) using funding from FORUT, a Norwegian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) working in Vanni, was opened in Mannakulam area in Vavuniya district Wednesday. FORUT's Vanni Director of Planning, Mr. Arnon, cut the ribbon to open the building.

Nearly 75 students stand to benefit by the new pre-school.

Following the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the North East Commissioner for Pre-Schools Development, Mr V. Ravichandran, Director of VDRO Mr Thirugnanasampanthamurthy, and Ms Subashini and Ms Krishnananthini raised the flags of the district and local pre-schools.

Kanakaraayanku'lam Kirama Sevakar, Mr Thanikaasalam, Director of Kanakaraayanku'lam Women's Development Organization, Ms Rosemalar, and several others spoke at the event.

Social Economic Development Bank established accounts for the pre-school children in the local branch. Fruit trees were also planted in the front yard of the school during the opening ceremony.
