2 men shot dead in Batticaloa

Unidentified armed men shot killed two men Wednesday around 8:45 p.m near Kalladi Sivaananthaa playground, 5 km south of Batticaloa city. One of the victims was earlier working in Sri Lanka police department, Kaaththaankudi Police said.

The victims were identified as Kulasegarampillai Kulendrarajah, 28, and Rajapaksa Ravichandran, 32, from Chelvaanakar, Aaraiyampathi, according to the Police.

The victims were returning home after attending a birthday party and visiting a bar. The gunmen with pistols followed them and shot them dead.

Ravichandran had served in the police department before and Ramesh, a resident of Aarayampathi, was employed in a private bank.

Their bodies are kept at Batticaloa Teaching hospital.
