Delayed Jaffna mailbags arrive in KKS

663 post bags that had remained in Trincomalee harbour for three weeks due to unavailability of transport repairs to the ships, were brought to Kaangkeasanthu’rai harbour in Jaffna peninsula, Tuesday, postal sources in Jaffna said.

Since the closure of A9 land route to Jaffna peninsula in August 2006, postal bags were being shipped between Trincomalee and Kaangkeasanthu’rai in passenger vessels.

The three weeks disruption in the shipping service had inconvenienced people who had to travel to out stations.

Jaffna Main Post Office sources said that the contents in 63 bags were delivered in Jaffna peninsula Wednesday and that the remaining 600 postal bags will be processed and contents delivered in the next few days,.
