Ma'nalaaru schools still not re-opened

Five government schools in Ma'nalaaru (Welioya) are still being closed due to continuing conflict in the area between the warring parties, according to North Central Provincial Education Ministry sources.

All schools in the education zone were closed down following the claymore explosion that took place on January 6.

Later the education ministry instructed that all schools should be re-opened on February 11.

However, five schools in Ma'nalaaru are still under closure following the continuing fighting between the warring parties. The provincial education ministry has allowed these schools to be closed indefinitely till the situation improves, sources said.
