Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapakse Friday held a discussion with representatives of Sri Lanka's teacher trade unions regarding the removal of salary anomalies and the increase of salary. The Ceylon Tamil Teachers' Union (CTTU) was not invited for the discussion, trade union sources said.

The membership strength of the CTTU is about 20,000 and represents Tamil teachers in the north east and of the south

Mr.Mahinda Rajapakse told teacher trade union representatives that he is expecting a report from the National Salaries Commission regarding the question of sorting out matters confronting the teacher community. He said teacher trade unions could submit their views on that report thereafter, media sources said.
