Grade 7, 11 Tamil medium text books not distributed - CTTU

Text books introduced under new syllabus to Grade 11 and Grade 7 from this year have not yet been supplied to Tamil medium schools in North, East and other areas in the country while the first academic term of schools to end in first week of April, complained the Ceylon Tamil Teachers Union (CTTU) in a statement to media.

The students and teachers are facing hardships to complete the syllabus before the end of the first term. Text books under the old syllabus cannot be used, the statement added.

Grade 11 students are to sit for the GCE Ordinary Level examination conducted by the Department of Examinations this year. They have to sit for the first term test shortly.

Text books to Tamil medium students of other grades are being supplied but even there many schools face difficulties in obtaining adequate supply, CTTU said.
