2 Sinhalese shot dead in Vilpattu sanctuary

Two members of a Sinhala family were shot dead inside the Vilpattu wild life sanctuary when they went to cut firewood on Wednesday afternoon around 12.30 p.m by unidentified persons, media sources reported quoting Sri Lankan Army (SLA) spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakara.

Meanwhile, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Sri Lanka Police has been deployed along 52 km long highway from Mathavaachchi to Padaviyaa via Kebitigollewa to ensure security.

Six new STF camps have been established. The security of entire Kebitigollewa and its suburbs has been brought under the supervision of the STF, media sources said.
