Bishop calls for unity to end war

The Bishop of Mannar, Rt. Rev. Rayappu Joseph called out to leaders of different religious faiths to strive in unity to bring an end to the war. He made his plea after declaring open the renovated St.Antony's Church at Rambaikulam in Vavuniya this morning.

The St.Antony's Church of Rambaikulam is over 110 years old.

The Bishop said that the continuing war in the island is destroying people of all communities. He said that the war should be ended as soon as possible and called out to people of all communities to unite as the new year dawned to bring about a new era of peace

The opening ceremony was presided by parish priest Rev.T.Navaratnam.

Priests of other sections of the Christian faith, Hindu priests, the Additional Government Agent S.Ragunathapillai and a large number of devotees participated the function.
