A villager was wounded badly and his left leg had to be amputated in Kilinochchi district when he stepped on a booby trap on Friday December 18. Sinnathurai Ganesamoorthy was wounded when he went to Kanagapuram to inspect his abandoned house.
Sources said he is admitted to Akkarayankulam hospital for treatment. The Liberation Tigers captured the Kilinochchi area earlier this year. They have warned civilians only to enter area that have been cleared of land mines and booby traps. Kilinochchi was a large northern town with an estimated 200,000 civilians who fled the area in 1996, as the Sri Lankan Army moved into the area. Meanwhile the Voice of Tigers (VoT) announced over its morning transmission today that 6 members of the Liberation Tigers were killed in an accidental explosion on December 15 in Mannar district. Their names were given as: Muhunthan (Baalaanantham Ruban of Mannar), Visu (Amirthasihaamany Jeyakumar of Mullaithivu), Selvan (Yogaraasa Nadraasa of Jaffna), Silambuchelvan (Amirthalingam Umaamaheswaran of Trincomalee), Ilango (Arasaratnam Sasikumar of Jaffna), Thamilalagan (Joseph Ericson of Jaffna)
