4 men abducted in Batticaloa

Unidentified men abducted three family men in Pullumalai and one from the adjoining village Koapaaivea’li in Batticaloa district last week, according to complaints made by their wives to the local Human Rights organizations and police stations.
The men abducted from Pullumalai are Arumugam Kanthaiah, 48, a father of 3 children, Subramaniam Ravichandran, 40, a father of 7 children and Sampu Kanthasamy, 45, a father of 3 children. The man abducted from Koapaaivea’li is Illayathamby Vijayakumar, 27, a father of 2 children. The abducted men had been living with their families in the Urukaamam interim refugee camps for the last five months and had been resettled in their respective villages located on the border of Batticaloa district. These men, abducted last week, have not returned to their homes, their relatives said.
