[TamilNet, Tuesday, 22 April 2008, 08:18 GMT]
The police informed Colombo Magistrate Monday that inquiry into the statement made by defense ministry spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella involving the Eelam Peoples Democratic Party (EPDP) in the killing of Thiyagarajah Maheswaran, Colombo district United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian has been continuing, legal sources said.

Counsel appeared on behalf of the aggrieved party submitted to court that the police had been purposely avoiding inquiring into the statement of Rambukwella. In reply to court the police said the inquiry into the statement made by Rambukwella has been continuing, legal sources said.

Four suspects in the Maheswaran killing were produced from remand before Ravindra Premaratne, Colombo Additional Magistrate Monday morning. The court ordered further remand for the suspects till May 5, sources said.

Maheswaran was shot dead on January 1 this year while attending poojah in the Colombo Ponnambalavaneswarar Temple.
