Tamil student abducted in Vavuniyaa

A seventeen year old Tamil student Selvarajah Manivannan studying at Kandy was abducted by unknown persons reported to have arrived in an army vehicle Monday night while staying with his parents in their residence located at Soosaipillaiyaar Kulam in Vavuniyaa division, according to complaint lodged by his father with the Vavuniyaa Police, regional office of the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) and the Vavuniyaa office of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).

Selvarajah in his complaint to human rights organizations and police on Wednesday morning stated that some persons arrived in a Sri Lanka Army vehicle had taken his son from his house forcibly. Thereafter his whereabouts are not known.

Vavuniyaa Police said it had started inquiry into the complaint and to trace the missing student since Monday, media sources said.
