CAFFE receives 38 election related complaints from east

Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE), a monitoring group which has its headquarters in Colombo, said Thursday that it has received 38 complaints related to election violence from three districts Trincomalee, Batticaloa, and Ampaarai in the east province till Wednesday night, media sources said.
Keerthi Tennekoon, Secretary of the CAFFE said the highest number of complaints, 18, had come from Batticaloa district, 09 complaints from Trincomalee district, and 11 from Ampaarai district. More violence could be expected in the east during the next week, he added. Meanwhile, CAFFE has been recognized by the Commissioner of Elections to monitor east election. CAFFE has already started to recruit volunteers locally and train them on monitoring work on the polling day and also to conduct mobile monitoring in violent prone areas, media sources said.
