Decomposed male corpse washed ashore in Jaffna

The corpse of a male in highly decomposed state washed ashore Thursday in Kayts, an islet of Jaffna. Kayts magistrate visited the scene and directed Kayts police to hand over the corpse to Jaffna Teaching hospital mortuary to be identified.
On Thursday April 24 too a male corpse had washed ashore in Analitheevu, another islet of Jaffna, and was handed over to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary where it still remains unidentified. Residents of Kayts had informed the police on finding the corpse. The corpses of males in highly decomposed state have been washed ashore in islets of Nedunththeevu, Pungudutheevu, Annalaitheevu, Kayts and Veala’nai before. Jaffna Teaching Hospital has requested the public to help identify the corpses. Since the bodies are being discovered in much decomposed state, it has been impossible to identify the cause of their deaths, locals added.
