Explosion at Amparai Telecom building

A powerful bomb exploded at the Telecom building complex in Amaparai around 11.30 p.m last night, damaging the high powered generator and computer equipment, said Police sources.

The bomb had been planted inside the generator room by unidentified men, the sources said.

The Police party rushed to the scene and recovered another bomb and exploded it around 1.20 am.

Local residents said that the sound of the explosion rocked the area.

Police said that if the second bomb, that was found near a fuel storage area, had exploded, it would have caused heavy destruction to the Telecom complex and buildings in the vicinity.
