3 Tamils abducted, youth reported missing in Colombo[TamilNet, Thursday, 12 June 2008, 13:40 GMT]Unidentified armed men in civil clothes abducted Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. the manager of a lodge in Kotahena while a family man was abducted the same night by a gang of armed men arriving at his house in Kotahena. In the third abduction, three men in police uniform and one in Sri Lanka Army (SLA) uniform abducted Monday an elderly man from his house in Wattala, sources in Colombo said. Meanwhile, a Tamil youth from Kotahena is reported missing from his home since Tuesday, according to the complaint made by his relatives to Kottahena police. The lodge manager abducted Wednesday night is Nadarasamoorthy Koneswaran, originally from Chunnaakam in Jaffna. The armed men in civil clothes entering the popular lodge located on Mahaaviththiyalaya Maawaththai in Kotahena Wednesday night presented themselves as officers from Security Forces and took away Koneswaran saying that he was to be interrogated. The family man abducted Wednesday around 10:05 p.m is Velautham Mathurakunasingam, 30, originally from Ki’linochchi, residing in Alwis Place in Kottahena for the last 3 years. Armed men in civil clothes arriving in a van at Mathurakunasingam’s house abducted him, according to a complaint made to the police by his relatives. The elderly Tamil man abducted Monday in Patrick Fernandez, 71, a resident of Balagalla Road in Wattala, according to a complaint made to Wattala police. Three men in police uniform and one in SLA uniform took away Fernandez saying he was to be interrogated. The Tamil youth reported missing is Thasan Robidsan, a resident of New Chetty Street in Kotahena. He was last seen drinking tea at his house Tuesday around 8:00 a.m. according to the complaint made to Kottahena police by his relatives. Kottahena police are investing into the first two abductions and the youth reported missing.
