Madhu church gets telephone

A telephone link was given to Madhu church in Mannar on January 2, said sources. This is the first time telephone facilities has been given to an area that is not controlled by the Sri Lankan Government.

This radio communication was established at a cost of 310,000 Sri Lankan Rupees through the Vavuniya telephone exchange, said the sources.

The Bishop of Mannar had earlier contacted the Minister of planning and Implementation, Jeyaraj Fernadopillai. Following this, efforts had been made to establish telephone and electricity supply to Madhu, they said.
