Auto-rickshaw driver shot dead in Jaffna

Unidentified armed men arriving in a motor cycle shot and killed Sunday around 12:30 p.m the owner of an auto-rickshaw at Naayanmaarkaddu within Jaffna Municipal Council limits while he was talking to his friends near his home.

The victim was identified as Kopalasingham Sathurmukam, 25, a resident of Raamanaathan Veethi in Naayanmaarkaddu.

Jaffna District Magistrate, Vasanthasenan visited the site of the killing and conducted inquiries.

The body was handed over to Jaffna Teaching Hospital mortuary Sunday evening.

Many auto-rickshaw owners in Jaffna peninsula have been killed in the past two years.
