Muslim civilian injured in grenade attack in Oaddamaavadi

A 27-year-old Muslim civilian, Azad Saheed, was seriously injured in the early hours of Monday when unidentified attackers lobbed a grenade at his house located along M.K.Street in Oaddamaavadi in Vaazhaichcheanai police division of Batticaloa district.

The attack was reported at 2:30 a.m. and the wounded civilian has been admitted to Batticaloa Teaching hospital.

Officials of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) substation in Vaazhaichcheanai said the attack been made on a transformer but it was not damaged. Vaazhaichcheanai Police have begun an inquiry into this incident.

Oaddamaavadi is located, about 32 km north of Batticaloa city.
