2 students drown in Batticaloa

Fishermen recovered the bodies of two school students Monday around 8:00 a.m washed ashore on the beaches of Kaaththaankudi and Paalamunai in Batticaloa district, sources in Batticaloa said. The two students, along with three fellow students had gone to bathe in Puthukkudiyiruppu sea Sunday when the incident happened.

The drowned students are Ananthanayakar Nithiyaroopan, 16 and Thiruchelvam Jegathas, 16, GCE O/L students of Puthukkudiryiruppu Ka’n’naki Maka Viththiyaalayam.

The bodies are kept at Batticaloa Teaching hospital mortuary.
